Hardware and firmware design for GPS and
3G modem daughter-board PCB

Designed and integrated a daughter-board for
an ST Micro Cortex-M3 ARM uP with Linx
Technologies GPS module and Telit 3G voice/data
wireless module using an off-board Taoglas
antenna.  The intended use is a wearable
medical device.
Hardware and firmware design for 4-channel  
CODEC PCB based on SHARC DSP

Designed and demonstrated Analog Devices
SHARC ADSP-21489 based DSP PCB with AD1939
4-channel audio CODEC circuitry for auditory
testing in chemotherapy patients.

Also developed a 5,000 SLOC embedded C
firmware project.  Code tasks included peripheral
driver creation, producing pure audio waveforms
of varying frequencies and durations, FFT
processing of returned audio waveforms, and
SPI bus messaging protocol via Silicon Labs
SPI-USB bridge chip to PC.

Developed, tested and integrated C++
firmware for velocity/depth meter

Based on the ARM Cortex-M3 ST Micro
STM32F103 uP, embedded C++ firmware drivers
were developed to support various SPI, I2C,
UART, D/A, PWM, NOR flash, keypad controller,
and LCD controller peripherals.  Embedded IP file
system and GUI libraries from Micro Digital and
Micrium were then integrated to interface a NOR
flash drive and QVGA LCD respectively.  Finally,
embedded C++ application code was designed
around the Micrium uCOS-II RTOS with Quantum
Leaps QP Framework state machines to provide
user interface and processing of real time water
velocity and depth sensor data.

Embedded firmware for brushless DC motor
control

Responsible for development, debug, and test of
embedded C firmware for a MicroChip dsPIC33
processor based commercial motor control
product.  

Successfully created a 10,000 SLOC embedded
project from concept to product demonstration
with minimal schedule delays.  Utilized sinusoidal
PWM control of Hall sensored DC motors using
space vector modulation techniques and a PID
speed control loop.  

Hardware and firmware design for automotive
OBD dongle PCB

Provided hardware and firmware design for an
automotive OBD dongle with ARM uP and
Bluetooth LE module. Also integrated
OBDExperts OBD CAN library.  Project
successfully completed pilot program with 200
users and is now in mass production phase.

Hardware and firmware design for residential
water usage meter PCB

Provided hardware and firmware design for a
residential water usage meter with STM32F429
ARM uP, 800x480 color LCD, touchscreen,
Li-Po
rechargeable battery,
and WiFi module.
